Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

UPDATE

Kifakiyo Kizima - is the Swahili term for "The Living Brush

The name just popped. Let me know if you like it.

I had no idea I would be getting the positive response from deviants that I am now. It goes to show that there are truly good people out here in dA.

I have met with, and aquired the services of 3 people in Kamina who will liase with the village elders in order to set up meetings, as not much can be done without their permission, accrue stationery and be the contact for when i leave Kamina. They will also act as interpreters for any meetings I have and they will be playing a major role in the facilitation of the actual days when painting takes place. So please let me introduce Kendjo, Kabila and Kolomba to the team.

We have our first sponsor of books from South Africa.

As well as almost convincing a talented painter to use her awesomeness to paint a logo....

Legal aspects of the project of been ongoing and I am hoping for feedback soon...

It is my intention to attempt the launch to be a global one and I am liasing with Simon Okumu for the Kenya link at the moment...so wish me well there.

and that is about it thus far methinks.....more news to follow soon

After being inspired by people like `shell4art and sites like Art In All Of Us I have decided to embark on the following mission. I know and understand the implications of trying to achieve this..but I am compelled to do it.

THE MISSION

1:   Obtain a suitable name for the project.
2:   Design Logo and determine the aims and objectives for project.
3:   Meet with the Village Elders of the 3 closest villages to the base.
      Katala One
            Katala Two
            Sungu Mission
4:   Register the organisation in South Africa
5:   Obtain permission from the DRC Government for the project.
6:   Design suitable website to host the project.

THE PROJECT

What I intend doing is getting art supplies for the 3 villages and having the children paint their lives on it. How they see themselves in this war torn country. What they think the country and the people should be like...the relationship between the people and the land and the animals etc.
I will then photograph each painting, along with the artist..and offer these photographs for sale..to assist in the developement of these children..like books, more art supplies, etc.

I am looking for a name...
