So where do we as photographers stand? I have seen so many beautiful photographs on sites like deviantART etc. But how do 3 million photographs of sunsets and flowers affect our humanity, our civilization and our right to life in peaceful co-existence.
So here is the competition.
I have the resources to globally promote and distribute a single photograph .The United Nations, UNICEF, World Food Program, etc.
One that has the capability of stopping leaders in its tracks and taking a serious look at the consequences of war. And this is the photograph I am looking for. One that sets it apart from the rest. Imagination, and a perfect slogan is the pre-requisite for an award winning photograph. I have already identified and liaised with a few prominent people who would be willing to judge the competition.
What is the prize???
The award winning photographer would receive the mediocre prize of a year free subscription on deviantART. Why mediocre you ask? The real prize would be the global effect you would have on civilization, global recognition for your work, and who knows some major job opportunities.
How to enter send me a link (via a note) of YOUR photograph on deviantART.
Entries close the 30 August 2007 and results will be made known after that.
NOTE: By entering the competition you would be giving me the rights to market your photograph in an effort to halt the effects of war. All credits will be given to the photographer and the marketing is guaranteed to be NOT for personal financial gain.

take care
beings" who have not yet attained internal unity.
Of course there can be no unity externally until we are threatened with extinction. Ever those living in their lower selves continue to justify killing.
When ownership dies ,rivalry dies.
We carve up the earth with imaginary borders and plant the flags of "Desire for ownership"
So silly for finite beings to imagine they can own anything!
This changes YOU for the better, the more YOU's that are changed, one YOU at a time then we begin to change our world!
I say send your photographs of beauty as well as e-mails to the military personal fighting with their lives, perhaps needing reminders of the loveliness they once believed they were fight for.
I say support UNICEF in this competition, and also check out dALove Day where I encourage all of us to reach out... on YOU at a time.
I can see where you're coming from but an appreciation for the simple beauty of the world around us is the best of our humanity and our civilization. If one is inspired by photos of puppies and babies chances are one isn't the kind to do acts of violence towards others. By flooding the world with images of peace and beauty we are promoting more of the same sort of appreciation. Those who do violence need to be reminded of exactly this sort of simple, everyday beauty in order to change their thinking, heal their hearts and set them on a peaceful course.
My mom is soon going to Afghanistan to help as a relief nurse, so I am pretty close (mentally and emotionally) to war.
I think I may have to give a go at this.
I am only 13, but when did age make a difference on changing the world?
I hope you win! It would be all the more poignant to see someone so young make a visual statement to stop the powerful in their tracks!
