WITHOUT PREJUDICE by thermalraven WITHOUT PREJUDICE by thermalraven
Having all these kids in one photograph really epitomises the youth of kamina. They live without prejudice,..amongst them are street kids, beggars, child laborers, smartly dressed kids who were out shopping with their parents, and and yet..what i realised was that as a photographer we can unite people or we can divide them.
here i had a group of kids from all walks of life, coming together with one goal in mind...to be part of a picture..but what they failed to realise was that they actually formed part of a much bigger picture..one that journalist seldom capture..and that is to be together....WITHOUT PREJUDICE.

The look so thrilled to be having their photo taken... I love it, and what a great write up to follow.

To live without prejudice... what a wonderful world it would be if everyone could learn to live and love freely, and peacefully.

You have a special gift with the camera.

I love this not only for the wonderful image but for the enlightened and enlightening explanation.

Also, it has added to the mystery of your incredible work....I find the eyes of the kids in so many of your portraits incredibley vivid and compelling....I had started to wonder if part of that was skill in getting the balance right in photoshop (like developing film) and maybe taking the contrast to the max that would be feasible....but here one can see the contrast is really quite low, the light and shade of the overall image very subtle, but still their young eyes are so vivid and deep...so it's true, they are the windows to the soul, and these young souls shine so brightly they even look illuminated in the sunshine.
Incredible.

Robbie

Thank you so much..I know you know that I dont use PS...
I suppose I am just fortunate to be able to see people the way I do, like you said..I am cursed..or blessed with the ability to capture the souls of people..especially kids. I find that simply by loving kids, they sense it and an entirely different character emerges. One far beyond all the pain and suffering they have to endure.

Malachai - no I didnt know that, although I didn't think that you did use PS, I wouldn't think there was anything wrong with it. But it makes sense that you dont as your images are just invariably of superb quality and very natural-looking.

And the love you have for these kids and the way they respond to it, is also the most natural thing in the world, but at the same time, your ability to do it in such extraordinary circumstances remains an amazing testament to your being a very unique and special soul.
