Hands with the kind permission of the parents of 3 year old Grâce Mukandama…How relevant her name seems to be in relation to the concept of the photograph.
The concept of “CHOOSE” comes from the fact that, as parents, we give our children the best education our circumstances allow. In the DRC, that education is so hampered by the war and the ongoing atrocities committed against the population. Females and children in particular, suffer the most here. We as parents have the choice to educate our children on the inhumanity of war.Choose is currently being used by UNICEF as a marketing tool in their fight against child soldiers and the ongoing rape of women and children in the DRC.
